General users do not need to install a custom certificate Public EM Tech Support apps and services use standard HTTPS, published hashes, and normal platform signing checks.
Before you install

Use three quick checks

  1. Download only from an official EM Tech Support page or trusted app store.
  2. Compare the file’s SHA-256 hash with a published release.
  3. Confirm the publisher or digital signature when the platform provides one.

Exactly 64 hexadecimal characters.
Manual verification

Find a file’s SHA-256 hash

Calculate the hash on your device, then paste the result into the checker above.

Windows

Use PowerShell

Open PowerShell in the download folder and run:

Get-FileHash .\YourFile.exe -Algorithm SHA256

Copy the value shown under Hash.

macOS

Use Terminal

Open Terminal, type the command, and drag the downloaded file into the window:

shasum -a 256 /path/to/file

Copy the 64-character value at the start of the result.

Android

Check the source first

Prefer the official Google Play listing when available. For a directly downloaded APK, use a trusted file-hash utility to calculate SHA-256 before opening it.

Also confirm that the Android installer identifies the expected app and publisher.

Publisher checks

Digital signatures and publisher information

When a platform shows signing information, confirm that the publisher matches the name listed on the official release page. A valid signature helps confirm who signed a file, while the SHA-256 check confirms the exact file.

  • Windows: open file Properties, then check the Digital Signatures tab when present.
  • macOS: review the developer identification shown by Gatekeeper.
  • Android: use the official app-store listing or compare the signing identity for direct APK releases.
Security notices

Stop if anything does not match

  • Delete unexpected or suspicious downloads.
  • Download a fresh copy from the official Apps page.
  • Contact EM Tech Support if you need help confirming a file.
